Rayan F. Afif

Rayan F. Afif is a playwright, poet, and artist based in Boston, MA. Select plays include: 1, 2, 3 (Awards: First Prize, Princeton University’s Lewis Center for the Art’s 10-minute Play Contest), Shards of Our Heart (Production: Statesmen Theatre 2023), and WHEN YOU ARE HOME (Development: Woolly Mammoth & Strathmore, Art & Social Justice Fellowship 2023). Their poems have been published in KAIROS Literary Magazine (Volume 7), where they were the runner-up for the Editors’ Prize in Poetry.

Rayan, a current student at Emerson College, explores the usage of art as a tool of social movements and tactic toward change – whether it be of the theatre, comic, literary, or visual form. They ground their personal work in the inseparable connection between art and the people, beyond what barriers of stage and page attempt to constrain us to.
